I was pleased to find that this is Ocean's first graphic adventure. Not only is it much better than the movie which received questionable ratings, but it has a much clearer storyline. From the moment Peter arrives in Pirate's Square, the instructions are made clear through the intentions of the characters. The music is as enchanting as the legend of the original Peter Pan. The only let down is the limited nature of the scenarios. Despite that, hunting for the proper clues will leave you occupied for hours, the entire story is restricted to Pirate Town, the Lost Woods and Hook's ship. It's a short ride on a rollercoaster adventure, but in the words of Frank Sinatra, it's unforgettable!

This Hit Squad budget offering has been well received and well played for some while now (if the Game Surgery letters are anything to go by, at least), and at the bargain price of £10 it will no doubt pick up a few more fans. It's quite slick, although the problems aren't too taxing, but all the same it offers enough locations and graphical treats to keep most people happy. The control systems breaks no new ground, but why fix something that ain't broke? (as my fictional relative used to say. Probably). If you enjoy a nice and easy adventure, have a hook, er, look.

The problem with a game of this ilk is that the plot and puzzles are too linear. Not having seen the myself, some of the puzzles strike me as being very obscure and abstract. The graphics and sound are both excellent but unfortunately the four disks of data have skimmed over the most important element of any game which, in my book, is gameplay. It's a real shame because this lets it down no end. I suppose it could have been worse. It could be a platform game! Never the less if you enjoyed the film check out the game at your local computer shop you may find its right up your street.

If there was ever a good time to shove a game through the Ocean 'Movie license construction kit', Hook is that release. The film's over-the-top storyline and special effects scream out for a bit of platform action across Neverland, arcade swordfights with Captain Hook and his band of pirates, and perhaps a flying section with Tinkerbell. It's a surprising mistake really, considering the Manchester powerhouse's usual knack of producing the right game for the right license. Exactly who will pick up on the game, I'm not sure. Fans of Monkey Island will be extremely disappointed with this poor offering. It's nowhere near sophisticated or witty enough for fans of the genre and far too complicated for the average six-year-old.

The puzzles aren't really demanding and an average adventure player should be able to finish the game in a single afternoon (it took me only three hours) and there's nothing that would really make you replay the game. So overall this is a nice little adventure game that you'll probably try, giggle about a scene or two, finish and never play again. That's why I'm giving it a 3.

Occasionally nice graphics, but a bit too cartoon-like for this style of game. The presentation is rather swish, particularly the atmospheric intro sequence. The control system is far too limited and unwieldly to get you involved into the plot. The Story and characters don't seem to evolve at all, leaving everything seeming rather flat. A tedious graphic adventure which shrinks into insignificance next to Monkey Island 2.
