Description
An adaptation of the graphical TI-99/4A version of this traditionally textmode game of exploration, this conversion puts the player in a random chamber of a randomly-arranged maze of round cells, connected to each other both directly and by misleading tunnels. Caves can contain several things: a bat, which may randomly pick the player up and move him to a new location; slime, indicating a one-room proximity to a fatal-if-entered slime pit room; blood, indicating a two-room proximity to the ravenous Wumpus; and of course the Wumpus itself, hunting which the game's title tells us is the goal of this cave crawl. The player is equipped with a single arrow, which is capable of slaying the Wumpus if aimed correctly -- but which tips off the monster if misfired and results in the player's messy death. Room navigation is achieved here through the arrow keys on the keyboard, with arrow discharge achieved similarly. The game keeps a running tally of player and Wumpus deaths.
