AmigaComputer and Video Games (CVG)
The graphics are excellent (the animation as the Hunter pedals around the landscape on his push-bike is amazing) and the 3D is fast and smooth enough to be convincing. The sound is similarly excellent with a good military tune and amazing sound effects (all of the cars make different noises, and there's loads of volcanic noises and seaside effects where appropriate). Instability is guaranteed too, with loads of missions and scenarios with an expansive map for each. Hunter offers everything for everyone and as such ranks as one of the best Amiga games money can buy.

Atari STST Format
Overall, Hunter offers everything you could want from a game: huge amounts of gameplay, fantastic graphics and those insignificant but pleasing details that give games a real polished look. You don't need to be a hunter to know that this one is a real find.

Hunter was a real breath of fresh air when it arrived. Sure, Midwinter also offered the same free-roaming and vehicle-based play, but Hunter was the more accessible of the two, providing a much more simplified and enjoyable experience.

Atari STThe One
Hunter offers just as much enjoyment as its Amiga counterpart. The graphics are a little lighter and maybe not quite as detailed, but the difference is so negligible that you wouldn't notice unless you knew what you were looking for.

AmigaThe One
Ultimately it's the graphics that win the day, more often than not you'll find yourself just wandering around the landscape, trying to shoot rabbits (sorry, but it's true!), but in an attempt is made to complete one of the missions then you'll find that Hunter offers both compelling and exciting entertainment that's going to last at leas until Midwinter 2 arrives, that's when the real battle will really begin.

AmigaAmiga Action
If you thought you had seen some decent interactive fractal landscapes wait till you get a load of Hunter. The graphics are really good with quite a lot of detail but it's just so fast, and when you're in the jeep it's unbelievably fast. The game itself is brilliant as well, and it takes quite a while to search the whole landscape. Even the little things like the rabbits just begging to be run over add to the game. All in all Hunter is a tip top product that will sell a storm when it eventually hits the streets.

AmigaCU Amiga
Throughout the game your ears are assaulted with a barrage of sampled explosions, growls and the odd seagull squawk, which is easily silenced by well-aimed helicopter rotor blades. Apart from being big, Hunter is also incredibly absorbing. Although the missions have time-limits there are no constraints as to how you must complete them, and this flexibility is severely lacking in past attempts at accessible 3D games. If this had to be categorized, I suppose I'd call it a thinking persons 3D shoot 'em up. Whatever it is it's good and you should definitely check it out.

AmigaAmiga Joker

Hunter is a huge game that uses solid 3-D graphics to great effect. Quick looks at the game will make you wonder whether there is any game behind the flash exterior, but anyone who devotes a few hours to it will find out the delights beneath. Prepare to be completely hooked: the Hunter's coming for you.

AmigaAmiga Format
Stunning 3D system is used to create a very original game. Three different styles of play; action, solo tasks or a deep, dark adventure. Small 3D world can quickly be explored. 3D occasionally gets glitchy. Fast but tense, blending action and adventure modes. Over 15 vehicles to drive and crash.

AmigaAmiga Power
Everything is just as it appears, rendered in fast, smooth 3D graphics. There's masses to do and heaps of things to discover. Be prepared for a slight feeling of anti-climax when you've explored everywhere and tried everything out, but things should pick up again once you start tackling the puzzles. In case you're in any doubt, then, it gets a thumbs up from me. Well worth buying.

Enormously absorbing game - you'll find yourself completely captivated by it for fours on end.

Atari STTop Secret

Atari STASM (Aktueller Software Markt)
