While I Spy Fun House is an entertaining compilation of brain-teasing puzzles for kids 6-10, it's too bad that Scholastic didn't provide voice-over for the puzzles so that they could be accessible to emerging readers. The riddles in the I Spy puzzles can be tricky because several of the words listed have multiple meanings. Kids may be asked to find a bat, but they will not know whether that is the one used during a baseball game or the mammal with wings.

Pros: Splendid production values. Challenging for kids and grown-ups alike. Lots of fun bonus games. Cons: Only 11 puzzles, which repeat with different sets of objects. No hints.

Books aren't cool anymore. Scholastic has to reach to out to the new batch of schoolchildren through another means and they've tried to do so with I SPY on the DS. It's an admirable effort, but there just isn't enough game here to justify purchasing. If there were more puzzles, or if they were more difficult to solve it would be a better game. The fact of the matter is that this game is made to be played by kids too young to have seen the I SPY books, so why don't they just get the books and get more use out of those?

He wondered if he should mention how there were a couple of other mini-games in there. There was a match-the-object game of minor interest, another boring block-matching game and a Simon-Says-style one. But what was the point? Nobody cared about yet another shovelware DS game like this cluttering up the shelves. "Why don't you all just buy the books instead if you're so interested?" he thought. But nobody was. His only concern right now was to think up some decisive way to conclude this review and get some sleep. After a long pause, it came to him at last.

An average puzzler in many respects, but may keep the kids entertained (quiet) on a long car journey.
