Description
Ice Hockey Club Manager 2005 is a managerial simulations where the player is responsible for the athletic and financial success of his team. The gameplay is more or less the same as in typical German soccer managers, just with a hockey setting. The player spends most of his time in statistics screens and menus where he deals with all the details which determine the team's fate.
On the financial side the options range from sponsorships and player transfers to expanding stadiums or speculating at the stock market. The athletic side mostly deals with aspects like training or tactics. Every player is represented with 13 statistics, e.g. mobility or puck handling. The player also divides his hockey players into blocks which ideally always play and train together. Each block can be assigned to different tactics.
Like in
greencode's Soccer Managers, the heart of the game are the real-time calculated matches where the player has a lot of possibilities to intervene. All parallel matches are calculated the same way and the player can watch up to four matches at the same time. In comparison to
Soccer Manager Pro the game uses a new graphics engine.
If the player doesn't wish to have to care about certain duties an automatic function takes care of it. The game also features a special menu screen where the most important facts are summarized and problems are pointed out. The names of teams and players in the German hockey league DEL are licensed, the other 14 leagues not - but that can be changed with the editor.
