The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer is worth a purchase for sure. Obviously younger audiences are going to enjoy the game more than older players, but for any self-respecting Incredibles fan, the story and the teamwork gameplay is enough to warrant a look. To infinity, and beyond! Oh, hang on…

As a children's game The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer succeeds spectacularly. It's a perfect game to plop down your child in front of without having to worry about content or frustration. Adjusting the difficulty makes it somewhat more capable of challenging an experienced player, but for the age range it's aimed at, it scores a direct hit.

The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer does of a good job of filling the void left by an absence of a The Incredibles film. The game sports a good story and solid gameplay with unique abilities for the different characters. It’s more enjoyable than the first game and good filler until the second The Incredibles film.

In the game, you’ll use both characters to overcome The Underminer. The characters are pretty different. Mr. Incredibles is the stronger of the two, and his attacks include the typical punches but also include a huge slam, a special move, and the ability to throw enemies around. Frozone also has a special attack, and along with the typical punches, can freeze objects and pull a sheet of ice that acts as a hover board. You’ll use both characters to take on the enemies since you can freeze them before finishing them off easily with Mr. Incredible. Frozone provides for a more compelling game, but he lacks the brute strength of Mr. Incredible, which you’ll need.

Rise of the Underminer is not meant for hardcore gamers. It's not even worth renting if you're looking for a challenge. Younger kids that love the Incredibles but aren't exactly skilled gamers are going to have the best time with this game and at a budget price of $20, it makes an excellent Christmas gift.

The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer begins where the motion picture left off. The underground dwelling evil mastermind known as the Underminer is poised to threaten Metroville from his underground lair. Festooned with legions of evil robots, Mr. Incredible and Frozone must infiltrate this subterranean world and do battle with the mechanical hordes in an attempt to stop the Underminer from executing his dastardly plan of polluting the planet.

The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer is worth a look from a variety of gamers. Platform junkies will dig the challenges and combinations of different powers each character has, movie fans will enjoy the continuation of the story and their favorite characters, and gamers just looking for an innocent rental won’t be disappointed either. The game does sport some flaws, dumb partner AI and repetitive gameplay towards the end, but most gamers will enjoy this in a rental. With no sequel to The Incredibles movie in the works as of yet, this could be the closest thing gamers get for quite some time.

The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer is a fun little superhero romp targeted toward pre-teens. There are a few balancing issues and the game really needs to be played with two people at all times even if you do end up arguing over who gets to play Mr. Incredible.

If only someone would take the time to craft a truly epic scale video game set in this universe. This is a world where superheroes and supervillains clash on a daily basis, where building-size robots routinely menace the good city folk, where laser beams and capes and derring-do are the norm. So why is it that with something this rich, some developers can only deliver something so generic as Rise of the Underminer?

The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer is a decent game that can provide a good amount of fun, but it fails to improve upon the first game and in many ways is a bit of step in the wrong direction. It’s best played by children and even more enjoyable when played with a friend. If you or your kids are fans of the original film or the first game, Rise of the Underminer is worth a rental or even a buy once you know what you are getting into. Anyone who has not played the first game and wants a game based on the film property, they are better off picking up the original game or waiting for a third.

This game could have been a great sequel. Unfortunately, with repetitive gameplay, less-than-brilliant cooperative AI, and uninspired level design, The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer relegates itself to the ranks of so-so video games. Fans of the movie and those wanting a quick two-player fix should check it out, but others might want to give this one a pass.

As a purchase, The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer is only recommended to kids and fans of the film. But as a rental, it comes with a full thumbs-up. It's moderately enjoyable and plays a bit smoother than the first game, even if the gameplay gets monotonous too quickly for its own good. It also has some quality in its presentation, and can be a fun time if you're up for super-hero deeds. This game should definitely not be underminded.

It's a short, simple ride. The Incredibles 2: Rise of the Underminer offers decent fun for younger kids, but the action and puzzles won't challenge older gamers. Still, the game looks and sounds good, so young fans of the movie will probably find lots to like in here.

The action plays out in an X-Men: Legends style scrolling 3D grid, with plenty of smoothly realised smashing, punching and freezing, and very little thinking. And that's pretty much it. Hardly incredible, then, but not dreadful either, and a perfectly pleasant way to pass an hour or two. Particularly if you have a small sibling to keep quiet.

The first Incredibles videogame, based on the blockbuster film of the same name, offered a passable mix of platform action and race elements. In terms of presentation, it did a pretty good job of capturing the look and feel of the movie. It even featured a bunch of clips from the film between levels, offering an incentive of sorts for younger players to plow through it. Unfortunately, the game suffered in a few key areas, namely balancing issues and pacing. It also featured a pair of gnarly boss fights that players, especially younger ones, would find difficult.

PlayStation 2Eurogamer.net (UK)
The first boss level in The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer can be completed at the first attempt in under sixty seconds. The reason we're beginning this review with that sentence is because it tells you all you need to know about the game in terms of who it's aimed at, and what kind of challenge it offers. This is not a game for adults, nor indeed is it a game for older children who know their way around a Dual Shock.

PlayStation 2Digital Entertainment News (den)
The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer looks and sounds just fine, and the beat-‘em-up genre seems like a fine fit for superhero action. However, beat-‘em-ups tend to get repetitive quickly unless they’re filled with a good amount of variety, and unfortunately, a small selection of moves and a cast of only two playable characters makes this a game that will quickly lose its appeal for all but the most dedicated fans of the movie.

XboxMygamer.com
Truthfully, I am still unsure why the game is called The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer in the first place. Since Helen and the kids don’t join in the game. While daddy Incredible runs off with his bowling buddy to have some fun, it might as well have been called Mr. Incredible plus Special Guest. The paint-by-numbers action doesn’t kill the game entirely, but without any real diversity throughout the linear levels, plus the extremely short duration, the game is placed squarely as a rental for fans of The Incredibles. For everyone else, move along. It’s nothing you haven’t seen before.
