All Game Guide
Easily the most elaborate football simulation of the era, NFL Football is a two-player-only game that relies heavily on keypad control for entering the various plays (nine offensive and nine defensive). Each team has just five players, but most of the basics of the pro game are intact, including running and passing plays, punting, field goals, safeties and interceptions. The lack of a computer opponent limits the game somewhat and the controls do take a while to master. However, the pseudo three-quarter viewpoint is effective, the field looks great, the sound effects are realistic and there are numerous strategic possibilities.
The Video Game Critic
The clock inexplicably stops after first downs, and once it's running it keeps going indefinitely, which can be a problem. Despite its shortcomings, NFL Football is still very entertaining when played by two competitive sports fans.
