International Tennis Open uses digitized actors for realistic gameplay and incredible CD sound right from the court. No exaggeration - this is the best tennis game in any format! Not just a game, this is a true tennis simulation. Highly recommended.

But even with all its multimedia flash, International Tennis Open is first and foremost a fast-paced, challenging sports sim and a solid computer game, rivaled only by 1992's Jimmy Connors' Pro Tennis Tour. It's a shining example of what multimedia entertainment should be.

International Tennis Open ist schon seit längerer Zeit auf dem Markt - aber nur für das in Deutschland relativ bedeutungslose CD-i. Programmiert wurde es von den Alone in the Dark-Machern Infogrames, die mit ihrem zweitem Sportspiel, Planet Football, gründlich auf die Nase fielen.

Att betygsätta blir lite klurigt eftersom spelet vinner oerhört mycket på att man kan spela två mot varandra. Den ensamme spelaren upptäcker tyvärr snart att det hela blir lite enformigt.

The graphics run smoothly and are nice enough but won’t leave you gasping for air. The sounds are ok, too, but nothing special. You hear the cheers from the crowd, the announcer giving the score and a brief description of your opponent. As well as the sound of the ball being struck and landing on the court, these are the only sounds you’ll hear. However, if you decide to quit the match before it's over, you can choose to just watch till the end. All in all, this game is a nice change from brain stretching adventure and puzzle games, but in my opinion so average that it gets nothing more than a three.

Mit einem dicken Doppelfehler hat sich das Programm aber selber abgeschossen: A) peinliche Grafik, bei der sich auch jedes Diskettenspiel schämen müßte und B) magere Steuerung mit einem zu Tode beruhigten Spielablauf. International Tennis mag allenfalls absolute Einsteiger erfreuen: Im computerunterstützten Dilettanten-Modus hat der notorischste Sportversager echte Siegeschancen. Ansonsten: angenehme Nachtruhe.

How hard could it be to make a fun tennis game? Apparently very, VERY difficult, as International Tennis Open plays like a nightmare! With an overall creepy presentation to boot, this one is better left at the bottom of the list on eBay where you found it.
