Verbleites Benzin, bleihaltige Luft und eine Familienpackung "Easy Rider"-Feeling - das gefällt mir besser als die ewige "Mad Max"-Aufbereitung. Beim Testen von Interstate '76 konnte mich nur meine schon im dunkelroten Bereich stehende Magen-Tankanzeige vom Bildschirm wegbekommen. Daß die Grafik gerade mal guter Durchschnitt ist, stört mich nicht die Bohne. Wichtiger sind Fahrgefühl, Abwechslung und intelligentes Missionsdesign.

Альтернативная реальность. Год тысяча девятьсот семьдесят шестой от Рождества Христова. Одежда - гм-м... цветастая. Усы -- белорусские. Прически черных не влезают в дверной проем. Машины - мечта. Новый зубодробительный автомобильный боевик Interstate '76 (просто "симулятором" назвать этот шедевр рука не поднимается) от Activision поднимает из могил поклонников Death Track и заставляет еще раз пересмотреть все три части Mad Max. Ура автомобильной бойне! Да здравствуют пулеметы 50 калибра, 30 миллиметровые пушки и управляемые радаром ракеты! Нельзя забыть и о минах, огнеметах, минометах и любимом автоматическом 45-го калибра. Всем стрелять до полшестого утра!

People will be talking about this game in the future as a standard by which other games of the genre are judged. It has a fresh storyline, a combat model that really will blow you away, and some of the best music I've ever heard in a game. The biggest question mark for I76 is the hardware requirements. Activision says a P-90 with a 1 MB SVGA video card will do the trick, but if you want to really experience this game the way it was intended to be experienced, I'd recommend at least a P-120 and a 2 MB, 64-bit graphics card. And as in the game, the more horsepower, the better. Bottom line: expect Interstate 76 to be one of the landmark titles this year, and perhaps in years to come.

You and your kung-fu-fighting buddy, Taurus, steering two cruisers rigged with machine guns and oil-slick ejectors, must outgun the mercenaries in car-to-car combat. Interstate '76 isn't just a dull patch of highway, as evidenced by its stylish intro sequence — a groovy, twangy salute to '70s action thrillers that's sure to jump-start the old Pinto.
But still, at a time when many games can't even do one thing right, INTERSTATE '76 is a rare joy – a game positively overflowing with solid ideas and great gameplay. This is a superlative game in almost every respect, with nearly everything you could hope for in one package: adrenaline-inducing single- and multiplayer action; a solid, original plot that actually affects gameplay; a beautiful 3D environment; and even a great written manual. If you want to experience the '70s the way they should have been, get INTERSTATE '76 – and have a nice day.
How much effort would it have taken to add a simple save game option? In all other aspects, this is an excellent game, lots of fun, and multiplayer friendly. Save game problem or not, I highly recommend this game. Just remember, NEVER get out of the car. Bottom Line: Excellent gameplay, missions are well thought out. An action game that isn't just 'blast everything in sight'. Some clipping in the graphics. Major flaw in the save game philosophy, fail a mission, and you have to start at the beginning again. Still lots of fun to play, and multiplayer friendly. Finally, something to like about the '70s.

Automotive combat games have historically relied on action elements to deliver their visceral thrills. Games like GameTek's Quarantine and the soon-to-be-released Carmageddon from Sales Curve have followed the precedent set by first-person shooters - make it fast and make it violent. Interstate '76 presents automotive combat as a Pinto of a different color. Combining a great premise with an excellent physics engine, this may be the most realistically exciting vehicular violence since Steve McQueen blazed through the streets of San Francisco as Frank Bullitt.

Der er for alvor dømt kult over Interstate 76. Spillet er det mest funkede computerspil til dato, og byder på rigtig god handling, action og frem for alt underholdning. På cd'en ligger desuden en missions-editor, ligesom Activison lover at udgive nye missioner som kan downloades fra Internettet.

Wie in „MW“ sind die teils recht großen Missionen zwar nicht zahlreich, dafür aber durchweg originell designt und fordern neben Köpfchen auch einen Eimer Zielwasser. Natürlich vermißt jeder Hobby-Mad-Max die von UIli angesprochenen Features. Doch schickt die Atmosphäre. belebt durch stilistisch ungewöhnliche Cut-Scenes und einen überragenden Soundtrack, eventuelle Kritikpunkte schnell gen Auspuff. Das fehlende Save-Feature während der Missionen geht mir im Gegensatz zu den Kollegen weniger ab - die 17 Aufträge wären in Windeseile durchgespielt. Vielmehr hätten gute Multiplayer-Modi wie ein Online-Krieg á la „Air Warrior“ dem Spiel die Krone aufgesetzt.

Interstate 76 ist sicherlich kein gewöhnliches Actionspiel. Anstatt monatelang an einer neuen Engine zu arbeiten, konzentrierte sich Activision auf die Ausarbeitung einer faszinierenden Story und eines realistischen Fahrmodells. Innerhalb des Genres eine ziemlich einzigartige Entwicklung, aber dennoch kann sich das Resultat sehen lassen.

Laat er geen misverstand over bestaan: Interstate '76 werd van bij de start ontwikkeld als een multiplayer spel. Netwerkmogelijkheden, of het nu via LAN, modem of Internet gaat, zitten er van bij de geboorte in. Maar is er dan niets dat je bij I76 echt op je eentje kan beleven? Het antwoord is: ja. Je kan meespelen in een film. Momenteel ben ik bij missie 7 (van de 17) waarbij je door 4 politiewagens en een gevechtshelicopter aangevallen wordt. Vrij frustrerend. Oorzaak hiervan is het ontbreken van een moeilijkheidsgraad. Er is geen 'easy' of 'hard' instelling. Alles of niets. Geen tijd voor prutsers of bangerikken.

Interstate 76 je především úžasně atmosferický. Chytlavá závodní hra napěchovaná bezvadnými nápady a americkým humorem drsňáckého stylu. I když se příběh jeví jako smutná žáležitost, je humorný a nadmíru poutavý. Občas Interstate 76 sklouyne do strílečky, ale z obecnějšího hlediska se jeví jako vyvážený. Všeho tak akorát, až na zábavu. Tou se totiž v Interstate '76 nešetří.

Strona techniczna programu nie budzi zastrzeżeń. Wymóg co najmniej 16 MB RAM dla jego poprawnego działania jest już raczej standardem. Gra rozwija skrzydła dopiero na podrasowanych kolosach - w innych przypadkach obraz skacze. Zbudowane z wielokątów elementy graficzne szwankują jedynie w przypadku postaci - wydają się być one aż nazbyt schematyczne i wektorowe. Tyle o obrazkach. Muzyka jest znakomita, podkład z licznymi latynoskimi rytmami stanowi wspaniałą odmianę wobec powtarzanego w innych grach do znudzenia industrialu i techno. Podobnie dźwięk - został doskonale wkomponowany w szybkie tempo akcji. INTERSTATE '76 pozwala także na grupowe szaleństwo: gra bardzo sprawnie obsługuje sieć IPX.

Those still firmly subscribing to the notion that wide lapels and monstrous sideburns remain image-strengthening icons will undoubtedly find Activision's first-person 3D combat simulation comforting. Indeed, although the game is set in an alternate 1970s dominated by violence, crime and corruption, Interstate '76 delivers the clothing, hairstyles and - more amusing still - the expressions of the time.
The economy is in the throes of a deep recession. Flames of riot rule the cities. Gas is expensive and scarce. Crime is rampant. No one seems to care. This is a time for vigilantes. So begins Activision's Interstate 76 (I76). You are Groove Champion. Your goals are to find out who killed your sister, Jade; to uncover the reason for her death; and to avenge that death, if at all possible. With your trusty pal, Taurus ("I'm so good, they should name a car after me"), your handy mechanic Skeeter, and your rugged Picard Piranha, you set out to right the wrongs of the alternate universe that is Interstate 76.

Wir ziehen unseren Helm vor Activision: Das Bemühen, dem derzeit arg strapazierten Genre der Rennspiele eine originelle Seite abzugewinnen, kann gar nicht genug gewürdigt werden. Da verzeiht man dann auch der Steuerung die eine oder andere Panne.

Qui n’a jamais rêvé de disposer de deux belles mitrailleuses couplées à l’avant de sa berline dans les embouteillages ? Vous ? Certainement pas. On vous a vu, l’autre jour, serrer votre volant comme si vous alliez le manger et invectiver les usagers de la route qui osaient, quelle outrecuidance, vous barrer la route d’un repos bien mérité. Mais on s’égare. Interstate 76. Voilà qui ne nous rajeunit pas. Non, ce n’est pas un clone de Pong lancé en 1976. C’est quand même un peu plus récent que cela. Mais ceci dit, le jeu prend place dans les années 70, mais pas celles que l’on connaît. Ou que l’on croit connaître.
