A secret organization called Mystery Trackers sends a detective to an old mansion, where three celebrities went missing after entering the abandoned place. The decrepit manor is the property of Dr. Malleus Void, a mad scientist rumored to conduct bizarre experiments inside the secret rooms of his creepy house. The investigator has to solve all the puzzles left by the crazy doctor to rescue the actress Rebecca Thatcher, writer Kevin Sting and the magician Jerald Springs.Mystery Trackers: The Void
is a hidden object game that borrows some ideas from standard point-and-click adventure titles. Most of the time, the objective is to collect a series of items and use them to solve all the puzzles found on most locations. Some of the objects are found in sections, with pieces scattered around several different scenes. The objects are stored inside the inventory tray at the bottom, that slides upwards to reveal its contents when used, and automatically recedes back down to show more of the background graphics. The tools and other items have to be dragged and dropped from the tray to an interactive portion of the scenery to perform an action or complete a pending task.
Some of the necessary objects are only received after completing one of the hidden object scenes taking place on separate screens, where all the entries from a list at the bottom have to be found and clicked on locations filled with assorted items. The hint button is a frog sitting at the bottom-right corner, showing the position of one of the required items when activated, but taking some time to recharge after use. Mini-games also take place on separate screens with mechanisms of some sort that have to be manipulated directly to solve puzzles, where the player has to match pairs of paintings by theme, reassemble the pieces of a shredded newspaper, set several hands on two clocks without overlapping them, place light bulbs on sockets with the correct voltage and complete other similar challenges. They can be optionally skipped after a few minutes.
