DescriptionIn the first episode in The Silent Age adventure series the player follows the janitor Joe who works in a large building of the Archon organization. It is set in 1972 and Joe has been working for two years there. One day, he is asked to take over the duties of his colleague Frank and when he goes to his work area he discovers a dying old man who says to be a time traveler. He hands Joe a device he claims can be used to travel through time. He explains mankind has become extinct in the future and he has come back to help prevent it. Joe is questioned by the police and uses the device to escape from the interrogation room. He then decides to honour the old man's request to prevent the extinction of mankind.
This first episode consists of five chapters. The gameplay is similar to classic point-and-click adventure games. A single tap is used to walk around, a double tap to run. All interaction in the environment is done through a single tap; Joe will either examine something or attempt to interact with it. Items in the environment can be picked up and are stored in an inventory near the bottom of the screen. Items in the inventory do not need to be combined with each other and only need to be used in the environment. Many puzzles are solved by using the time manipulation device. For almost every environment Joe is able to switch between present and future. That way, similar to games like Day of the Tentacle, he can manipulate the environment in the present to progress in the future and vice versa.
