Sword and Sworcery has some of the most amazing visuals and music of any iPad game, but the gameplay leaves something to be desired.
When all was said and done, I was both emotionally moved and intellectually stimulated, with plenty of smiles, snickers, and a few outright belly laughs along the way. Simply put, it was great fun. Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is a game that takes real chances to stretch the gaming medium without sacrificing the joy of play and discovery that makes the medium great. It’s a bold experiment in having the adventure game genre take a meaningful, humorous and fun look at itself. Gaming doesn’t need to find its Citizen Kane, but it may have discovered its Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.

If you've got an iPad, you've made it this far and your review and your interest in this game is even mildly piqued, you need to download Sword & Sworcery. It's by far one of the most unique games I've played on my iPad, and I really hope the game does well enough that the developers are able to turn it into a franchise. There is just so much more they could easily explore in the Sworcery universe, and I can't wait to delve further into it.

From that very first musical note Sword and Sworcery led me on an incredible journey, never letting go. When a game makes you laugh, sad, estatic at the finale and then sorry to see it end, you know that what you just went through was something special. Like the rainbows that the Scythian’s hate, Capy’s world casts rays of absolute bliss from beginning to end. This is one of the best games of 2011. Never thought I’d be saying that about an iPhone title.
But, despite the cons I mention with the actual gameplay, the experience is just so overwhelmingly great, that it is absolutely worth playing, worth seeing and experiencing for yourself. It being a game is often its great drawback, as when you get reminded that you’re playing a game is when the experience suffers the most. But when that all melts away and you can just let the art and music wash over you, you can truly experience something unlike anything else you’ve ever played.
