Description

Assassin's Creed: Recollection is a free-to-play real-time strategy card battle game based on the Assassin's Creed series. It is played one-on-one using a deck (sequence) of cards (memories) to summon creatures (agents) with mana (gold) as a currency, tailored to the jargon of the series. The classic turn-based approach is changed into real-time gameplay, but not in the sense that the player who taps the cards the fastest will also most likely win. Many characters and story elements reference Assassin's Creed II.

The game uses a timeline of days to plan and execute actions. A new card is provided at the start of each day and summoning an agent takes half a day. Instead of turns however, both opponents perform actions simultaneously and each action consumes an amount of time. The goal of a match is two control two of three areas on the board with a score of ten to control a region. To score points agents need to be deployed of sites (buildings or locations) need to be placed. These actions requires gold and every twelve hours an amount is provided. Each agent has a certain amount of health and power. An agent is deployed in one of two available slots in a region to score points if their control of that region is not blocked. Deployed sites also generate power. When two agents clash, the surviving agent returns to the staging area with half a day of cooldown before redeployment is possible. Typical strategies include combining sites for a double power value, stealing power by deploying sites in a region controlled by the opposing player, etc. Action cards are used to disrupt the opponent's agents or to boost your own.

Deck building is an important part of the game. The player starts with a basic desk with a few cards of both factions. By going through the tutorial (set in Spain), the twenty story missions (going through Italy as an inexperienced Templar and ending in Constantinople) and the ten challenge missions, Animus credits are received. These can be used to purchase booster packs. Additional credits and cards can be bought through in-app purchases. There are five factions in total (Crime, Faith, Media, Order, and Scholar), each with their own strategies, and a gold faction that can be used with any other faction. A single deck can contain cards of two factions, combined with the gold ones.

The game allows online multiplayer matches and opponents can be searched through the Game Center integration. These online matches are another way to earn credits. It also contains an art gallery for the game series and a short animated film titled Assassin's Creed: Embers.
