Dungeon Village

Remember that generic town from Japanese RPGs, where your heroes would buy weapons, armor and general goods before going into the wilderness to kill monsters? In Dungeon Village you are not directly one of those heroes -- you manage the town, building shops to make sure the adventurers are well equipped and other structures to keep them trained and entertained. You can also offer quests, promote events (to increase the popularity of your village or give the characters stat boosts) and give equipment to the would-be heroes. Keep them satisfied and they will work hard to save your town from the hordes of monsters that roam right outside your walls. If they really like their adventures, they might ask you to build a house so they can live in your town for good.

Though you do not control the characters directly, you can choose their jobs and give them equipment and medals of recognition, which directly affect their stats and ways of adventuring. The game actually tallies up a score after a finite amount of time (about 15 in-game years), but you can keep managing your town after that just for fun.
