Touch Arcade (Dec 17, 2009)
If you're a fan of first person shooters, or any of the previously mentioned console classics that NOVA is obviously inspired by, then you too will also likely really enjoy NOVA. It's one of the most ambitious iPhone games I've played so far, and despite the questionable originality of the game I've really got to hand it to Gameloft for creating such an amazing iPhone experience.
Slide to Play (Dec 16, 2009)
Overall, N.O.V.A. is a smart purchase that you can't go wrong with. If you've never played an iPhone FPS before, you're in for a treat. If you're already an expert FPS marksman, this game adds enough new features to keep things interesting. We definitely recommend you pick this one up.

Gameloft's N.O.V.A. is a landmark title for the iPhone/iPod platform. This Halo clone might be lacking in originality, but it's an amazing title that showcases what the iPod is truly capable of. FPS fans, this is one you've got to grab!
IGN (Dec 17, 2009)
Despite its obvious cribbing from Halo (and, in all likelihood, because of it) N.O.V.A. is the best first-person shooter on the iPhone right now. The excellent pacing and great set pieces never allow for a drop in the action, save for a few “calm before the storm” moments. The controls are fantastic – I have no complaints over Gameloft’s finely tuned set-up which allows for precise movement; aim assist fills in the slight disconnect between the shooter genre and a platform with no physical controls. While I wish there was more customization for multiplayer (come on, update 1.2), N.O.V.A. still offers great online deathmatch action. In a year loaded with excellent iPhone games of all stripes, N.O.V.A. strides to the upper echelon with authority. This is simply one of the best iPhone plays of 2009.
Pocket Gamer UK (Dec 17, 2009)
For all that N.O.V.A. does to earn criticism, it's important to recognise that potential lost isn't a flaw born. Despite objections to how multiplayer is set up and the derivative basis of the campaign, there's no denying the bombastic action. In other words, enjoy.
GameSpot (Jul 02, 2010)
As a matter of fact, N.O.V.A. offers a great first-person shooter experience for just about anyone, even newcomers to iPhone first-person shooters. And if you're an iPhone shooter veteran, you'll definitely enjoy sinking your teeth into the substantial campaign and fast-paced multiplayer.

Eurogamer.it (Jan 30, 2010)
