Iron Helixiä on paras verrata toiseen samantapaiseen peliin, The Journeyman Projectiin. Kummassakin on erittäin kiehtova taustakertomus, kumpikin sijoittuu tulevaisuuteen ja pyörii Windowsissa. TJP:ssä on pelinä enemmän syvyyttä, siinä on hieman parempi grafiikka, mutta Iron Helix vie kokonaisvoiton paremmalla pelattavuudellaan. Iron Helix sijoittuu kolmen parhaan CD-ROM-pelin joukkoon, Rebel Assaultin ja Gabriel Knightin kanssa.

If you're looking for an action-packed platform game, Iron Helix probably isn't for you. It dishes out slowly, suspense-filled strategy and it's three difficulty levels make for hours of playability. But it'll get you with an iron grip: You'll grind your teeth and the probe's gears over Iron Helix.

Iron Helix stanowi luźne połączenie głównych wątków gier Space Hulk i Aliens z uproszczonym interfejsem role-playing. Trzeba pochwalić za dużą ilość animacji i digitalizowanego dźwięku, a jednocześnie zganić za sztywną nieco fabułę i drewnianą akcję gry. Mimo to nie sposób Iron Helixa pominąć w sporej już kolekcji sprzedawanych w Polsce gier na CD.

Iron Helix spielt in einer fernen Zukunft, in der die Menschheit Frieden mit sich geschlossen hat und eigentlich himmlische Zeiten beginnen könnten. Doch glücklicherweise finden sich auf dem Planeten Caliope neue Feine - eine außerirdische Rasse, die den Waffenherstellern wieder volle Auftragbücher verspricht.

Iron Helix isn't a game that everyone, maybe even most gamers, will enjoy. It is very slow, very methodical, and there is an extreme emphasis on exploration and hiding. You won't be able to breeze through this very quickly at all, as the DNA takes time to find, and you'll constantly be rerouted to dodge the security bot. But if you know exactly what you're getting into, you'll find the game can be quite a lot of fun. This one's hard to find, but worth the download if you want a tense strategy game.

Iron Helix, tries to turn the industry around. It was designed during a period of time when the weaknesses of compact disc technology were being exposed; Helix's creators at Drew Pictures decided to do something about some of those sprouting problems. DrewPix decided that one of the main flaws in most CD games is the crummy fps we get off many high resolution video images. The remedy that they came up with involved reducing the size of the view-box, where all of the first person navigation and movie clips are played. We may be grateful now for the slow-video fix that Drew Pictures has provided, but a year into the future CD drives will have become cheaper and more powerful, making the need for smaller graphical displays, obsolete. Unfortunately they were obsessed in fixing what had already had been done, instead of improving what was to be.

Helix requires patience and time. To beat it, you have to check out everything. If you're capable of doing that, then Iron Helix is for you. But if you want the instant results you can only get from winning the lottery, pass the game up.
