GamePro
The game's premise is so simple - blast everything and get out before the sheet metal hits the fan - and so well done that you're instantly hooked. If Atari can release a string of games with fresh gameplay that's this compelling, the Jaguar could pounce on its competition. In the meantime, let Iron Soldier test your mettle.

GameFan Magazine
Iron Soldier excels in just about every way possible. Except for the absence of complete texture mapping, this is a perfectly executed game. There is a major fun to be had in is with mega diversity and the graphics and music are pure quality. Adventures of this magnitude are sorely needed on the Jag. Great game!

All Game Guide
Sporting great graphics, deep and intense gameplay, and a wealth of replay with many weapons combinations, Iron Soldier should be a staple of every Jaguar library. The game's sound is its most disappointing aspect, but that's only in comparison to how great the game is otherwise.

Defunct Games
All in all, if you have a Jaguar, this game is a no-brainer. It can be found on eBay for like $10, or probably fairly easily and cheaply if you have a local game store that actually still sells this old stuff, it has enough missions to keep you busy for a decent amount of time, and you can just pick it up and play it whenever you want, play for 5 minutes and maybe finish one of the easier missions, or play for a few hours and finish the whole game. Were it not for the 2 obnoxious escort missions, I would probably score the game even higher. Highly recommended.

Atari Inside

Game Players
If there were more variety to the missions, and maybe a few more texture maps so it didn't look so much like you were adrift in a sea of Lego blocks, Iron Soldier would have edged over into Ultimate label territory. As it is, it just has to settle for being great.

The Atari Times
Iron Soldier is a very fun game. The graphics are good, but could have been better (ie MORE texture-mapping.) Sound is okay and the music is good. The most important part of any game isn't it's graphics or sounds... Rather the addictiveness & playability. And Iron Soldier definitely has those in spades. If you don't have a copy of this game, what are you waiting for?

Was soll man dazu noch schreiben. Kaufen muß man's!

MAN!AC

The Video Game Critic
Unlike games like Cybermorph, the animation here is very smooth. But I think the best part of Iron Soldier has got to be the explosions: they look awesome. They make destroying things all the more fun, especially when you throw a big grenade into a group of tanks.

Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM)
A surprisingly good combat simulator, with excellent polygon graphics. There are several combat systems to master (using guns and even the robot's fists to destroy buildings and enemies). One of the best features of this game is being able to pick your combat area rather than starting at the same one and progressing from there. The control does take a while to get used to (especially with the various buttons, etc.), but this is a very good Battlezone-esque title.

Video Games & Computer Entertainment
Iron Soldier's graphics, while not exactly eye-popping (they're polygon-filled), are pretty neat, mainly due to the fluid motion of your war machine and surrounding scenery. All of the enemy vehicles in the game move as if they were rotoscoped. Sound-wise, IS delivers the goods. The explosions sound devastating and at times, the music really cranks with thumping bass (so I'm a bass freak, sue me!).
