Description
Jade Empire (Special Edition) is an enhanced version of
Jade Empire.
No changes have been made to the game's storyline. Gameplay-wise, this version features a number of additions. Among those are two new fighting styles (Iron Palm and Viper), additional weapons in sword and staff branches, ultimate versions of stat-enhancing gems, and two new monsters (Rhino Demon and Ghost Lord). Enemy AI is slightly improved; enemies tend to block more often, and a few of them have additional immunities.
This release also includes a Jade Master mode, available after the player has completed the game once; it allows the player to keep all the styles and techniques mastered from the previous playthrough, but with the character level reset to the lowest, and the combat difficulty level increased. A new world map feature allows the player to access previously visited areas.
The interface has been improved, allowing quicker access to various fighting techniques. Up to ten styles can be bound to quick keys (as opposed to four in the original version). The graphics feature more detailed textures and resolutions up to 1600x1200, as well as some other DirectX 9.0c features.

Trivia
While the game was being ported to PC, the developers nicknamed it 'Jade Empire on Steroids' as the game was modified to take advantage of modern hardware and also running at ridiculously high resolution(ie 1600 by 1200) at full speed.
