The gameplay suffers, on some levels, from the same lack of sophistication as the graphics. The missions are simple, requiring little to no actual strategy and the control is awkward at times. If there were more concentrated effort on the graphics and actual gameplay in Air Cars, perhaps it would be easier to appreciate the good job done in other areas. There is also a network feature for Air Cars which takes advantage of the new Cat Box hardware for the Jaguar and allows up to eight people to play at once on separate monitors. If only there were more game here to enjoy.

While Aircars can be played with up to eight pilots (using the CatBox network), the game isn't any more fun with multiple players than it is alone. Similar to (but below the par of) the PC title Spectre, this substandard shooter will only satisfy easy-to-please pilots.

Uh...what is this? Somebody please tell me this isn't a Jaguar game! Tell me I'm not playing an Atari 2600. Air Cars suffers severely from very poor graphics and not-so-special sound effects. Worse yet, the control needs heavy refinement as it's difficult to direct your movement. About the only redeeming quality is the ability to play with up to four people, which doesn't save it.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, take a good look. This game could be the last nail in the Jaguar coffin. If Atari wants to remain in the running with the imminent release of Saturn and Playstation, it is going to have to put some real effort into developing games that push the parameters of the Jaguar to the limit. This game is excruciating to play; even the multiplayer link capabilities aren't enough to save it.

Well you must think I am either being really harsh on this game and it deserves a better review, but I am not gonna candy coat this review and make you think it's some awesome game that you must absolutely have to add to your Jaguar collection. The only major thing is has going for it is the ability to be networked, it can be set up for deathmatch with a total of 8 players. That sounds like a fabulous idea, course I have no access to a couple of catboxes, I do have a networking thing (JagLink) but not a second copy of AirCars (why would I want to buy another one? LOL). So in spite of everyone saying it is a little better in Multiplayer and you can get some fun out of this title, I can only stick to what I know and what I see. So there you have it, AirCars...what more can I say?
