In Stage 4 (of course set in ancient Japan), you encounter a boss that starts off as a compact, then expands into the head of Impact from Konami's Ganbare Goemon (a.k.a. Mystical Ninja) games, and the boss fight music is a wacky remix of the boss fight theme from Ganbare Goemon 2!

One of the stages you visit is Tokimeki Memorial High, the setting of Konami's Tokimeki Memorial series!
