The story continues from Kirby 2. Kirby and Gooey were fishing when they noticed a familiar cloud in PopStar's sky. Coo flew down and said, "Hurry Kirby! Dreamland's in great danger!" Dark Matter is back!

Lovely level and world design, and structure that while not up to Mario standards still leaves you plenty to explore and discover.

The oddities of Gooey aside, though, Kirby's Dream Land 3 really is a quaint and capable little Kirby adventure that is pretty enjoyable to play -- and especially so if you're one of the great many players who missed out on it in 1997, because you were already too busy spending your gaming cash on titles that ended their names with "64." Give it a glance if you're a fan of Nintendo's short pink hero.

From a gameplay standpoint, Kirby 3 isn't terribly challenging, but it is designed for a young audience that values accomplishment over difficulty. For that audience, Kirby 3 is one of the best values around. It's straightforward, but challenging in a trial-and-error sort of way.

Kirby's Dream Land 3 could've easily been a great game - It mostly relies on exactly the same things that made the previous Kirby games so good, but for some reason HAL decided to drastically change the gameplay by making it too slow and too easy. Diehard Kirby fans will no doubt get some enjoyment out of this title, but it isn't very hard to see why it's usually considered the worst Kirby game together with Kirby 64. If you look at Kirby 64 and this game's credits you'll see why - Kirby's creator, Masahiro Sakurai, didn't work on either.
