Description

Return to the haunted mansion in the backwoods of Louisiana in Last Half of Darkness: Shadows of the Servants.

The last inhabitants of the estate were Dr. Muretta and her two daughters. The doctor was a scientist who dabbled is the "dark arts" and made frequent trips to rain forests in Brazil to further her experiments and gather ingredients for her potions. On one such trip she brought back a injured monkey, Jaja, who she had hoped would be a pet for her and her daughters. Not long after their return home, the monkey turned vicious and had to be destroyed. But the monkey refused to die, and its evil spirit arose and terrorized the family. More monkey specters appeared due to the doctor's futile experiments, and the family slowly went insane.

Having lived with the evil her whole life, Mira Muretta, one of the doctor's daughters, can no longer endure the torment. Her mother now dead, she must continue the doctor's work on her own. She is determined to destroy the evil "servants", but all of her attempts so far have failed. In desperation she casts a lure spell in the hopes that someone will be drawn to the mansion to help her. You are one of those passers-by.

In addition to the house and its attics, secret passageways and cellars, explore a graveyard, a crypt, a swamp and a small portion of the nearby town. The atmosphere, graphics, music and sound effects are all intentionally designed to scare you.

The game features unusual puzzles, a point-and-click interface, inventory objects to find and use, and exploration in first person. The game includes a number of bonus materials including full games, demos, and a screensaver.
