Last Ninja 2: Back with a Vengeance

A more-than-worthy sequel to the oriental arcade adventure classic.

Although this is very solid game, it failed to attract much of attention on PCs. This is a real shame considering the quality of the game. Probably due to this lack of success of DOS versions, System 3 never converted the third and the last game in the series to DOS. Our advice is to try it. Game is a great mixture of action, fighting, platforms and puzzles that will probably please most of the gamers. And if you are like ninjas too, what are you waiting for?

The Last Ninja 2: Back with a Vengeance is regarded by many seasoned Commodore 64 veterans as one of the finest games ever made for the platform, and it's nice to see it follow its predecessor into the American Wii Shop for a Virtual Console re-release. Gamers who've played and enjoyed the first Last Ninja adventure, on sale in the Shop since last February, should jump right in and invest 500 Wii Points here to keep Armakuni's journey going.

Die Grafik kann die sehr hohen Erwartungen erfüllen und beim Spielprinzip hat man noch einen Zahn zugelegt.

Anfang 1988 durfte der letzte Ninja auf dem C 64 New York von allerlei Gesindel befreien, jetzt können sich auch die Besitzer anderer Systeme an diesem 3D-Arcade-Adventure versuchen. Am Spielprinzip und an der gewöhnungsbedürftigen Steuerung hat sich nichts geändert. Grafik, Musik und Soundeffekte wurden leider nur geringfügig aufgepeppt.

Auch die ST-Version von "Last Ninja II" ist anscheinend so nahe wie möglich an dem C 64-Original gehalten. Die Grafik und die wenigen Soundeffekte sind einigermaßen ordentlich, die Hintergrundmusik schaltet man jedoch am besten ab. Was über den geringfügig schöneren Amiga-Ninja an anderer Stelle geschrieben wurde, gilt auch für diese Version, die übrigens zwei ganze Disketten füllt.

Der erste Teil dieses Klassikers aus seligen C 64-Tagen wurde leider nie für die "Freundin" umgesetzt, umso höher waren die Erwartungen an die Fortsetzung. Was jetzt tatsächlich dabei herausgekommen ist, kann man bestenfalls als Trauer-Spiel bezeichnen...
