Atari STThe Games Machine (UK)
Legend of the Sword is most enjoyable to play, there are many locations - all with a graphical representation - and plenty to do. I spent a happy time just wandering around the kingdom of Anar not achieving anything in particular, just enjoying the scenery (and persistently scoring 0%).

Atari STComputer and Video Games (CVG)
With all these features, plus masses of text, it is not surprising, that Legend comes on two disks. It is a big game, with many elements of role playing built into a problem orientated adventure. The problems may not prove too easy to solve, but the game is easy and enjoyable to play. It should establish Silicon Soft among the best of adventure producers, and maintain Ralnbird's reputation for high quality, high tech adventures. The price is fairly hefty, but you get a lot for your money!

Atari STST/Amiga Format
Evil wizards have been persecuted by brave warriors every since the dawn of computer adventures and Legend of the Sword is not about to buck the trend. The thing that does set it apart from the rest of the pack, though, is the presentation. The on-screen map, the use of mouse and menus for the more mundane actions is good and speeds play. Unfortunately some of that speed is lost with the regular disk accessing.

Atari STACE (Advanced Computer Entertainment)
Legend of the Sword is a beautiful looking game, but the pretty face conceals a rather second-rate traditional adventure. It's not that easy to solve, however, and I suspect that beauty (as always) will sell.

Superior graphics, but you've got to be careful when playing the game. I liked this game, particularly the mixture of graphics, use of the mouse and text - the story line isn't too shabby either. [...] I have a soft spot for adventure games that are amusing and some of the replies given are quite amusing. Have a look at the credits, then try shouting and, if you want to live dangerously, kick the captain. Hope you can swim.
