So I started replaying Larry 7 for experiencing everything this game has to offer. And I kept hearing about the possibility to put yourself inside the game. The thing is, after an hour of search on the net (including Al Lowe's message board, sierra gamers message board, vintage-sierra forums, etc.) I didn't get any info on how to do it. So, after failing miserably I come before Mobygames to ask this question: "So how do I put myself in the game?"
Is it even possible or is it just a rumor?

What size floppy disk drive do you have?

I can't find anything else, but according to Wikipedia: Players could also "appear" in the game by placing voice samples of selected dialogue and a digitized photo in a particular directory (the default was Al Lowe). Due to time constraints, the information to do so were not printed in the manual, but were published only some time later in an on-line announcement.

Taken from Destructoid:
-The player has the option to insert his voice or face into the game, should he so desire. A waiter character talks to Larry offscreen at one point in the game, and if you replace the default .wav files of his dialogue with your own (the original game instructions gave a quite detailed explanation of how to do this), you would essentially be voicing a peripheral character in the game. Similarly, several areas around the ship hold portraits of Al Lowe, the creator, in a yachting outfit, which can easily be replaced with a picture of the player's face (with the yachting clothes remaining, of course).
Now, the question remains - Why would you want to do that?

Cause I want to experience it myself. That's why. Pity, that everyone keeps telling that you can do that but they won't say how to do that. Haven't found no documentation on the cd either that would explain it. There's no wav. files folder in Larry 7.

You definitely can do both, and there is text documentation on the CD of how to do it. I'll dig it up exactly when I get the chance.
I can personally verify this works, only caveat being it was on true Win95.
EDIT: Okay, from VU's old doc hut
"Problem: In the manual under the Be A Star, CyberVOX 2000 section, it states to open the file named VOICE.TXT under the Larry 7 directory to access the script for the voice-overs.
Solution: The correct file to use is BEASTAR.DOC, for Windows 95, or BEASTAR.WRI for Windows 3.x. These files can be found on the CD ROM. NOTE: Some features are for Windows 95 only and are explained in the documentation."
This help?

Yest, thank you. I checked around the cd also, but did not notice the BEASTAR text. Doh.

So here are my adventures in voice acting business. As I understood from the text given to me, I was supposed to talk with a female. So, and since I was curious, I first tried to do my sexy voice. Which wasn't sexy at all and explained a lot of unanswered questions. It shattered my world since I always thought of myself as somewhat of Wentworth Miller.
Anyway, then to see, if my normal voice sounds as horrible, I tried it. And yes, my normal voice is god awful.
Then I gave up and made a weird accent and surprisingly I actually sounded worthy to be listened. I actually sounded authoritative and charismatic. Albeit also very cartoony and silly, but still. It seems that when I want to arouse respect I need to ditch my normal voice.
