Although Galactic Conquest and Stellar Invasion are cited for inspiration, the history of the basic game dates back much further, starting with WAR for the CDC-6600/6400 (mid '70s), DECWAR (1982) and Stan Bartsch'D.I.S.K. for the PDP-11 system in the early 1980's.
