DescriptionHexcells Plus is a standalone expansion to the ambient puzzle game Hexcells. It offers 36 new puzzles based on the same gameplay mechanics as the original game. Just like the original title they are divided into six groups and a new group is unlocked after achieving a certain score. The goal is to clear a board of adjacent orange hexagons by uncovering them, revealing a black one with a number or a blue one by clicking left or right respectively. Each board contains a set number of blue hexagons shown in the top right corner. Through math, deduction, exclusion, and uncovering the board from different directions, you need to reveal all hexes with as little mistakes as possible.
The game mechanics are once again explained in-game, but the game becomes difficult quicker compared to the original game and all mechanics are introduced in the first seven levels. Starting from level 13 a new gameplay element is introduced: black hexes with a question mark. It hides the number inside, meaning you cannot guess how many blue hexes are connected. Instead you have to work your way around or towards it using elimination. In level 19 numbers inside blue cells are introduced. When clicked they open a white, semi-transparent guide covering a 2 hex radius. The number signifies the amount of blue hexes in that radius, not counting the clicked cell and it also crosses gaps. The final levels offer much more difficult puzzles compared to the original game, with large boards with little room for multiple approaches.
