DescriptionOil Rush is a fast-paced real-time strategy game set in a post-apocalyptic world: Similar to the movie Waterworld, Earth is almost completely covered with water after the polar ice caps have melted. Being a water world your buildings are usually platforms in the water, your units are ships, planes and submarines. However the remnants of the old world are still visible through the water surface, and some high buildings or rocks still emerge to the surface. In this scenario you will fight against various organizations for the most important resource left: oil.
Similar to Z or Battle Isle the factories / platforms have fixed positions on the map and can be captured by any of the parties. To do so you have to eliminate all enemy units and defense towers guarding the platforms first and then be able to secure the building for some more time until the platform is really captured. The platforms either produce units of a given type or produce or store oil, which you will need to buy defenses for your platforms. Similar to Tower Defense games the platforms producing units have five slots which can be used to build one of three possible defense towers, while other buildings - most notably the oil platforms - don't have any slots, so you may want to leave a few units there to defend them.
Production platforms will produce units of only one type (which one that is can be seen when looking at the symbol on the mini-map) until a unit cap is reached. This unit cap depends on the number of factories you own - whenever one of your units gets destroyed the platforms will immediately start producing a replacement unit. This takes some time, but won't cost you any oil.
Units cannot be controlled directly, instead you select one or more platforms and order 25%, 50% or 100% of the defending units to go to another platform. If the target platform is not yours or if the units encounter any enemies they will automatically attack. Like in RPGs almost every action will get you some experience points. When reaching the next level you may research talents (applied automatically) like better weapons or abilities (used manually) like a temporary radar in a tech tree. Your level and the tech tree are reset after every level, however.
