Establish yourself as a mogul to be reckoned with as you work your way up the ranks of the railway industry in this strategy game. Expand your domain across continents and a changing global marketplace.

Build the Transcontinental Railway or the Orient Express. Run Steam train through the jungles of Africa, or electric trains through the Swiss Alps. Run your competitors out of town on a rail.

An 18 scenario campaign lets you re-create history's greatest railroading feats and failures.

Trivia

Development

Although the name suggests this is a sequel to the famous Railroad Tycoon from MicroProse, it is technically not a sequel. PopTop developed the game completely independent of the old game, and changed the title to Railroad Tycoon 2 when they obtained the rights to the name from MicroProse.

Phil Steinmeyer says that the train graphics were created by "photographing relatively cheap model trains rather than hiring a horde of artists to create them in a program like 3D Studio Max".
