The team-based first-person online battle reaches new heights with Tribes 2! Command your team or participate with multiple weapons, multiple armor types, multiple vehicles, and more. Join one of the five existing tribe, start your own, or join the new race: the Biodern Horde, as you battle for the glory of your tribe. Issue live orders via the command interface to your squad, call in air support from your air attackers, chat via voice comm, and much more. The best coordinated team will be the one standing!
Tribes 2 is the sequel to Starsiege: Tribes, the first team-based first-person-shooter designed primarily for online multiplay. While gettings kills certain helps, you must also achieve the various objectives specified in the scenario, ranging from attack-and-hold objectives, to assault on enemy fortress, to taking enemy flags, and more. Each member must weigh the tradeoff between firepower and protection, as well how much ammo to carry. Tribes 2 adds vehicles to the mix, as well as a new race, larger maps, better graphics, and more.
Weapons vary from the sniper laser rifle to chain guns to grenade launchers to the massive mortar, all are very different. Tribes 2 adds three brand new weapons, including melee shock lance, missile launcher (great against the new air vehicles), and ELF gun (drains energy from target).
The overall game is a bit slower than a shooter like Quake or Unreal, but with more emphasis on teamplay, as you must coordinate your efforts for offense and defense.
