Commodore 64Computer Gaming World (CGW)
A classic wargame, this abstract simulation is easy to learn and play. Highly recommended, although later conversions to 16-bit systems are not up to the machines' standards.

Kein Strategie-begeisterter ST-Besitzer sollte Lords of Conquest versäumen.

Atari STACE (Advanced Computer Entertainment)
If you can't trust your friends (and once you start playing you won't be able to!) you can always try your hand at playing the computer - which can be made to play at any one of three levels. Good stuff that you'll come back to whenever you feel the urge.

DOSACE (Advanced Computer Entertainment)
There are several aspects of the game which the player can define, including the degree to which chance will influence the result of a battle, or the amount of resources available at the start of the conflict. The instruction manual is not terribly helpful, but it doesn't take long to pick up the rules of the game, and once you have it becomes very entertaining - especially if you play with a friend or two.

73
Atari STThe Games Machine (UK)
The gameplay is not over-sophisticated but the computer opponent's toughness and the unpredictability of other human players make it a challenging game. The strategy idea is age-old, drawing on ideas from boardgames such as Risk and Diplomacy and, to a certain extend, Othello. Nevertheless, it's good to see this type of classical strategy game on the Atari ST.

Commodore 64ASM (Aktueller Software Markt)

Although sonically and graphically poor, Lords of Conquest does manage to maintain a high level of playability. While I'm still not convinced about the market the game is aimed at, I do feel that if you are looking for an introduction to war-gaming, then you could indeed do worse than invest in the Lords of Conquest.
