Toki is totally addictive. Once you've battles your way past the first end-of-level guardian you won't put your Lynx down until the batteries or the national grid fails. It's fun, playable and huge. No collection is complete without Toki.
Player One
The Video Game Critic
Toki for the Lynx is an excellent game that's a heck of a lot more fun than it's Genesis counterpart. Go Monkey! It's your birthday! Go monkey...
ASM (Aktueller Software Markt)
Game Zero
This is the best home version of this game that I have seen. The graphics are detailed and well drawn. The music isn't too bad. There are many power-ups and challenges in this game. With a cute story and fair control, Toki is a fairly good game.
GamePro (US)
Just like its arcade big brother, Toki is a beautiful-looking game. It utilizes the Lynx's full color palette and paints smooth animation and sharp, detailed graphics. The music is light-hearted and unobtrusive, and the sound effects are clear, especially Toki's digitized "Yearrgh" each time he gets hit. The jump and shoot controls are easy to learn, so chuck the manual and dive right into the game. the action is fast-paced and requires many different strategies and moves. Toki's a swinging good time!
Defunct Games
Toki's strongest suit lies in its faithfulness to the arcade version. Atari programmers have gleefully cloned nearly every detail of the coin-op with a level of fanaticism that's ordinarily reserved for such subjects as politics or religion. It's fun for everyone, but it's a special treat for those who were lucky enough to have played the little-seen original.
Power Play
All Game Guide
Toki isn't a bad game by any means, and if you can't get enough platformer action, then Toki might be for you. But there are definitely better games on both the Lynx and other systems.
