Baldur’s Gate II: Throne of Bhaal is well worth the wait for Mac RPG junkies. It features a rich story that nicely ties up the Baldur’s Gate series, nice visuals (albeit 2D), solid audio work (especially voice acting), a multitude of new spells & monsters and some of the most challenging combat one will ever face in an RPG. All in all, Throne of Bhaal is certainly a must buy.

For those who are fans of the original Baldur’s Gate and its sequel Shadows of Amn, Throne of Bhaal will certainly be worth the purchase. The game play and performance issues are not severe enough for these fans to not meet their destiny. For the casual gamer, Throne of Bhaal can be played on its own merits, though you still need to own Shadows of Amn, but it will be much more enjoyable if you first complete the main campaign.

.. anyone who already put up with the previous two Baldur's Gate titles won't have a problem with this. Frankly, if you've got the mental fortitude to log dozens of hours with this hopelessly dated engine, you're probably not going to have a problem dealing with a little bit of a wait while the plot picks up. If you liked Baldur's Gate II, you'll most likely enjoy Throne of Bhaal. However, don't expect any radical changes to the way the game plays; it's not quite what Lord of Destruction was to Diablo II or Brood War to StarCraft. It's more Baldur's Gate, nothing more, nothing less. Ultimately, I couldn't recommend Throne of Bhaal to anyone who couldn't bring themselves to finish Baldur's Gate II. For those of you who liked BG2 enough to finish it, though, ToB is just more of a good thing.
