Yeah it's a very good spiritual follow up to Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic, and the incredibly buggy ( >:( ) Neverwinter Nights 2. If you can pick it up for free and like RPGs don't hesitate!

Edit: Also Origin is no longer the horrible mess that it once was. It's quite functional now.

It's about 60% of a proper followup to BG2. All of the DLC is good too. Leliana's Song is my favorite, and either Return to Ostagar or that one where some dwarves hire you to find a treasure are the weakest. If you like the game I'd suggest buying the ultimate edition, which has all the DLc and the very good expansion for cheaper than most of that separately.

DA2 is irredeemable. Do not play it. Based on preview material Inquisition (DA3) looks like a confused mess, and no one who's previewed it has positive things to say about it.

It's very good. Not as great as Baldur's Gate series; but very good indeed.

Second the non-recommendation of DA2.
