Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary

What's most amazing about this is how well the game plays considering the quality of the graphics. My review computer was just above the minimum requirements (albeit with a much better graphics card), and I was able to completely max out the graphics settings with barely a performance hit. The game would slow down a tad when loading up a new environment and sometimes during heavy action, but not enough to really harm the gameplay. The box states the game isn't playable on Intel GMA processors, but this is a misprint; the game is compatible with MacBooks using the GMA 950 graphics chip. The gang at Robosoft did a fantastic job porting Tomb Raider Anniversary to the Mac, and I hope their relationship with Feral is a long one; they really know what they're doing.

Endlich gibt es wieder Lara auf dem Mac. Auch ich habe einige Vorgänger der Saga gespielt und bin mehr als Zufrieden mit der guten Fortsetzung. Es macht einfach Spaß Lara mit Hilfe ihrer akrobatischen Künste durch die verschiedenen Level zu lenken, Rätsel zu lösen, aber trotzdem nicht auf die nötige Action zu verzichten. Warum sind eigentlich nicht schon mehr Entwickler auf die Idee gekommen eine Frau in die Hauptrolle zu stecken? Tomb Raider ist und bleibt einzigartig, trotz kleinerer Fehler in der KI, die ich gut und gerne verkrafte.

To Tomb Raider fans it’s obviously an essential purchase, and to those unfamiliar with the series, it’s a very welcome Mac conversion of a top-notch, immersive classic.

While the controls take practice and patience to master, Tomb Raider Anniversary pays off with unmatched action.

This is a good effort that thrives on its grounding in the original series. It has the same challenging level formats with puzzles to solve and vast areas to explore, together with baddies to kill (including some dinosaurs!). If you ever liked any of the original games, you’ll love this. It’s easy to pick up, but difficult enough to keep you guessing in places. Definitely worth a buy.
