The issue just lies in the core gameplay. With no real melee option, hard-to-target spells, controls that refuse to allow permanent customization, unclear spell lists, expansive environments that literally get you lost looking for the next mission (even with a ghost trail of studs), and a very generic skill set among players, this definitely isn't the best of the LEGO games. Still, it'll provide you with hours of entertainment, all that being said. The reason its minor issues shine out is more because the other games were so good than that HP 5-7 is actually bad. Still, if you've played all the other LEGO games and still want more, you won't be disappointed. You'll just be happy you played all the others first.
While LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 may not win any awards for originality, the funny adaptation and solid gameplay provide a satisfying adventure for series devotees.
