If you have even the worst speakers possible you still get the feeling that you are king of your territory with a very moving and adrenalin pumping soundtrack. So even if you get tired of Mech2(which I doubt you will) you can always try the soundtrack on some other game since it is (as well as data CD) Audio CD. Even if you do finish the game in one night don't go to the store to soon. If you have a friend who has Mechwarrior 2, for PC or Mac (it doesn't matter), you can download NetMech, a highly anticipated patch for Mechwarrior that allows you to play over the modem,an IPX network, or Internet with a friend. I haven't tried it yet but I'm certain my phone line is going to be as busy as heck once I get the time to "test" it. So if you have the urge to kick some metallic, 31st century butt, get Mechwarrior 2. Trust me its worth it.
Despite the drawbacks, this is still a game that will leave you rocking and on the edge of your seat. Go for it!
MechWarrior 2 is one of the most complex and interesting 3-D action games to grace the market. After you've chosen a mech design, customize it to your heart's content. Enemies can take you down in a trifle, so survival requires brains (though being really big and tough does help).
MechWarrior 2 is a great play, although the learning curve is kind of steep, aggravated by the lack of an actual manual. Instead you have the liner notes for the CD, which contains basic instructions for installing the game, a very brief getting started page, a bit of troubleshooting help, and a basic keyboard layout. On-line you have two help files: Codes and Procedures and Mech 2 Technical help. Codes and Procedures is I guess what you would call the game play manual. It is actually quite extensive. You should definitely read it first. It is available either by itself on the MechWarrior 2 CD or within the game whenever you aren't actually in the cockpit of a 'Mech.
