Few recent graphic adventures get as many things right as Exile does. It reminds you of why you began playing adventure games in the first place. As a reviewer I'm supposed to be a coldly neutral voice, but I'm only human! My hat is off in true admiration to the talented team at Presto Studios. The sheer excellence of this game happily transforms me back into my true self--that of a gushing fan.
Myst 3 ist die Mutter aller Adventures. Fans von Myst und Riven werden nicht enttäuscht werden. Es ist jedem zu empfehlen, der auf gute Grafik, stramme Story, gute Sounds und schwierige Rätsel steht.
Even with the lack of feedback and sometimes disorienting movement, Myst III: Exile is easy to recommend. Its characters, story, and detail make a complete adventure. Exile even improves upon the juggernaut Myst series with a more engaging environment that lets you look in any direction. If you missed the other games, Exile is a jumping-off point into this adventure series.
Myst III: Exile restores my faith in the adventure games genre. In a sea of blood and violence, Exile is truly a thinking man’s (or woman’s) game. With stunning graphics, superb audio effects, an immersive story and challenging puzzles, Myst III: Exile is the perfect choice for any adventure gamer.
Myst 3 is an excellent game if you're looking for another game in the Myst series - the game advances the Myst series in almost every way. However, if you didn't like previous Myst games, there's nothing different about this one to change your mind - the game doesn't break out of its' old molds, just evolves them. With that in mind, I can heartily recommend Myst 3 to anyone looking for a game in the genre that Myst itself helped define.
So, what's the verdict? If you're not impressed by beautiful graphics, mesmerizing music, clever puzzles, and a captivating story line, and you live and breathe by the hard-core gamer's mantra, "kill everything that moves," you won't enjoy Exile. However, if you thrive in puzzling situations and enjoy being whisked away to other worldly locales, Myst III: Exile is one thrilling ride.
