Mac Game Gate
To make things clear, Myst is a must have for a true Mac gamer. You won't find graphics, animation and sound better than this in any game, except for its sequel Riven (You can expect a review on Riven some time soon, by myself, keep watching for it). Myst is a number one game, it deserves to be in the game hall of fame, if it isn't already. I have no complaints about Myst except, the puzzles may be a little to hard for some people. But there's a hint book available for those hard to get puzzles, as well as countless web pages that have walk throughs for the game. If you don't own Myst get it, if you know someone who doesn't have it, get it for them too. Believe me you will not be disappointed at all.

Macworld
Less like computer games than like wonderfully illustrated novels, both Myst and Riven transport you to a world where deciphering where you are–and why you're there–is all part of the fun. While both games lead you toward a final goal, the true point of Myst and Riven is to explore the gorgeously rendered worlds and the characters that live in them. We heartily recommend both Myst and Riven to gamers and nongamers alike

Edge
The obvious criticism to be made is that the game engine isn’t anywhere as near as sophisticated as the beautifully rendered in-game graphics. Coming from the people responsible for the influential Macintosh graphic adventure Cosmic Osmo – more accurately described (by the authors themselves) as a ‘non-threatening exploratory environment’ – Myst still has that ‘wander round admiring the pictures and clicking on things occasionally’ feel, with none of the zany character interactions that makes games like Monkey Island such fun.

But if you prefer Dark Seed over, say, the LucasArts games, you could easily spend hours in Myst just checking out the nice scenery.

Power Play
