LudoMac (2004)
Inside Mac Games (IMG) (Mar 08, 2004)
In its current state, the game fails to capture the excitement of WRC racing. A lot of the elements that make other games in this genre entertaining are absent. Another concern is the game’s lack of depth. This game can be finished quickly and it doesn’t offer much reason to come back. Frankly, it does not feel finished. Despite these criticisms, if you consider Rally Shift a work in progress it is possible to see its promise. What Code Blender has built so far fails to capture the excitement of Rally racing. If this game was priced a lot lower, purchasing it could be seen as an investment in something that would get better over time. But at $25, this game costs as much as games that offer a lot more game play.
Macworld (Jun 29, 2004)
CodeBlender deserves credit for bringing an underserved genre to the Mac. But as a shareware game, Rally Shift has trouble overcoming its limited budget. The game suffers from weak level design, spartan graphics, and basic game-play flaws. Definitely try the demo before you buy.
