Rune: Halls of Valhalla

Rune: Halls of Valhalla is an interesting game. As a multiplayer expansion to the first Rune, it would seem to only appeal to gamers who own the original game. The developers made an effort to avoid this pitfall by enabling Halls of Valhalla to be played as a stand-alone game in addition to being a Rune expansion pack. The lack of bot support severely undermines this strategy since the Rune; HOV can only be played online or on a LAN. While new gameplay modes are fun and the Unreal Tournament engine’s 3D graphics have aged well, Rune: HOV has very limited appeal to all but the most hardcore fans of the Rune franchise.
