An exclusive add-on building, the Piazza del Duomo, was included on the cover disc for Computer Games magazine #103.

When announced in 1997, Simcity 3000 was originally going to use a full 3D engine to allow players to explore their own cities right down to street level, using a first person perspective. However, technology issues forced the developers to scrap the engine and return to the classic isometric 2D style.

There is a soundtrack for this game released in 1999, and composed by Jerry Martin. This was not so easy to compose, as the music for this game varies a lot, since the game can be played on many ways and different styles. Soundtrack can be bought at http://www.synsoniq.com
