DescriptionWorld Mosaics 2, like its predecessor, is a "picture crossword puzzle", a genre popularized by titles like Picross. The objective is to fill a number of squares on a grid to form a picture. Each row and column has numeric clues besides and on top of them, showing the number of continuous squares to be painted. By analysing the available information, the player can guess the correct squares that have to be filled. For example, a row with the numbers "4 1 3" has four adjacent squares, one isolated and another 3 adjacent ones waiting to be uncovered. Empty squares can be marked with an X.
The minimal plot is told through the pages of a diary, with the unnamed protagonist traveling to the past after finding a series of cave paintings with magical proprieties. There's a limited number of errors allowed per picture, and making more than six mistakes resets the picture to its original blank state. Each square correctly uncovered adds sand to the hourglass at the right side of the screen, and after filling it the player receives an extra hint. The hint button reveals a few random tiles. The grids get more complex as the game progresses, with a larger number of squares to be marked.
