Madden NFL 10 has taken a huge step in the right direction this year. All the complaints I have about the game are fairly minor -- there isn't a huge glaring issue that I have come across yet. Every game feels different, nothing feels scripted, and you won't be bored by halftime. Last year, the more I played the game, the more I hated it. This year it is the complete opposite.

Bottom-line? As it was with all of the game's recent predecessors, there isn't a substantial need for casual fans to upgrade to Madden NFL 10. If you're content with the version you already have, you can get by without picking this one up on day one. Nevertheless, it is definitely an outstanding game - the best the series has ever seen. A great technical foundation has been laid with this year's outing, and true Madden fans will appreciate the package EA has put together. Likewise, if you've patiently waited for a true next-gen football title, now's the time to pull out your wallet.

There are issues, but it's hard to argue that this is the most inspired Madden in many years.

Madden 10 is a good game, and the three to four hours for 1000 points is quite enjoyable. For fans of the franchise, there is much to be explored solo or with friends, but for the rest of the crowd, this will be a one-day rental as you move on to a more challenging game.

While Madden 10 is our favorite football game of this generation, it suffers from trying to do too much. We love the new gameplay engine (more, please!) but could’ve happily done without most of the presentation “improvements” that get more irritating with each game. We’re still waiting for our Hall of Fame experience on next-gen systems, since Madden 10 doesn’t quite reach that level.

It may not have all the features or impressive graphics of its big brothers, but Madden NFL 10 is as good a portable NFL simulation game as could be hoped for. Even without the online modes that didn't make their way into the PSP version, there are still plenty of modes and content to keep even the most fanatical Madden player busy when they're not near their home console. Being able to play the spoiler during the Superstar Challenges is great, and the ability to create your own plays alone makes this a must own for mobile Madden fans. So if you're looking to play Madden somewhere other than in front of your television, you really can't go wrong with Madden NFL 10 for the PSP.

Madden NFL 10 on PSP is a good improvement over what was seen last year. Many of the problems have been fixed and it’s also seen some nice additions to both the gameplay and the list of modes. The classics are still here, but Superstar Challenge is a wonderfully designed addition that fits perfectly on the PSP. If you’re craving a handheld football experience, this is certainly the way to go.

It seems like Madden NFL 10 got a bit more attention than Madden NFL 09 as far as PS2 development goes. There certainly isn’t a bevy of new frills to entertain you, but the additions that are here help to push things forward ever so slightly. Forty dollars might be a bit much to ask, but there’s certainly enough Madden to keep you happy if the PS2 is your only option and you haven’t experience pro football in a few seasons. Otherwise I’d save the cash and spend it on a new console instead.

At a time when the focus is on the improvements and additions made exclusively on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, PS2 users can feel forgotten. Even the Wii version, as drastically different as it is, has received wholesale changes. Yet the PS2 version keeps on chugging away, doing what it's done while tweaking things as it goes. What it comes down to is this: if you're not the type who needs to "keep up with the Joneses", doesn't own a newer console nor has plans to do so anytime soon, then Madden 10 for the PS2 is a solid and respectable game that you'll undoubtedly enjoy. But if the PS3/Xbox 360 is on the horizon, hold off on Madden 10 until then; it's superior in every way and worth the twenty dollar price difference.
