DescriptionMah Jong Medley
is a shareware game comprising four variants of the Shanghai (Mah Jong) tile matching game.
The four types of game supplied are:
The player is presented with ten racks of randomly placed Mah Jong tiles. Each rack can hold nine tiles but there are only enough tiles to fill nine racks. The object of the game is to arrange all the tiles in groups and in numerical order, however tiles can only be moved next to a tile which is either one higher or lower than itself. If the player get stuck, i.e. they reach a point where there are no more possible moves then they can use one of the two available 'slides', a process which re-introduces spaces into the racks. This game starts with a high point bonus which decreases as the game progresses. Points are scored as each sequence of tiles is built.
This is a straight forward tile matching game where the player matches identical tiles. Points are scored as tiles are removed. There are three reshuffles available in this game.
The object of this variation of Mah Jong is to match tiles but not identical tiles as in the Classic version, here the sum of the numbers on the pair of tiles must total ten. A single reshuffle is available in this game.
Here the object is again to remove pairs of identical tiles, however a tile can only be selected if it has a right or left edge completely clear and no tiles on top if it. The special feature in this game is the ability to put two tiles into a special holding area to use later in the game. There are no reshuffles in this game.
The Classic, Ten and Freecell games each have over one hundred tile arrangements. In these games the player starts with a bonus score which decreases as the game progresses. Additional points are scored as tiles are removed.
The option to shuffle / slide tiles in the games can be disabled in the game's customisation screen.
