Game Boy Color64 Power / big.N / N Games (Nov, 1999)

This game is an absolutely brilliant rendition of golf, and a perfect game for the go.
Game Boy ColorGaming Target (Jun 22, 2000)
Games such as Zelda DX, Pokemon, Super Mario Bros. DX, and Tetris are all must haves for the Game Boy, and now we add another game to that list. Mario Golf is not just one of the best golf games ever, it is one of the best games ever and every Game Boy gamer's collection of games will not be complete until they own this game. After I play any other Game Boy game, I will always think back to this game and wonder why no other game compares to Mario Golf.
Game Boy ColorNintendo Land (2003)
Golfers should absolutely get this game! My dad plays golf all the time and he is hooked on Mario Golf. I looked at the stats of his character, and he has played 30+ hours, and I have done 40+! This game is so good, non golfers would even like it! This game is great for trips, there is nothing like making an amzing shot in golf!
Game Boy ColorJust Games Retro (Oct 08, 2017)
Mario Golf is an excellent little game that does exceedingly well at its two purposes: being a quality golf game and showcasing the strengths of the Game Boy Color itself.
Game Boy ColorSuper Play (Sweden) (Dec, 1999)
Game Boy ColorAll Game Guide (1999)
Sports involve much more than what occurs on the field, a notion that the creators of Mario Golf embraced. It's easy to fit most video games neatly into a predetermined genre, but Mario Golf is one of those rare games that defies classification and creates a category all its own. It's a definite hole-in-one.
Game Boy ColorMega Fun (Dec, 1999)
Game Boy ColorElectric Playground (Nov 30, 1999)
As if the Game Boy weren't dangerous enough, and golf ubiquitous and insidious enough. Mario Golf is not only an excellent hand-held version of the N64 game of the same name, but an excellent stand-alone title that eases those new to golf into familiarity with golf rules and nomenclature...and before you know it, you're one of those strange people who [gulp] play golf video games.

Game Boy ColorDigital Press - Classic Video Games (Jun 18, 2005)
Overall, this is a spectacular package. The RPG mode alone would be enough to warrant a purchase. Even the most inexperienced gamer (or golfer for that matter) can pick this one up in no time and have an enjoyable experience. Beefing up your character and tackling the games biggest challenge, Mario, is a thrill and great gameplay is what holds it all together. This is highly recommended gaming, and it's one of the most enjoyable games on the handheld.
Game Boy ColorPower Unlimited (Jan, 2000)
Game Boy ColorGameSpot (Jan 28, 2000)
All in all, Mario Golf is an excellent adaptation of the N64 title, and it's a Game Boy experience that stands well on its own. The music is even reflective of the N64's - it varies, depending on how well you're doing, and it's constant without being annoying. The only thing missing, audiowise, are the taunts, and frankly, you'll probably do just fine on your own.
Game Boy ColorNintendo Life (Oct 15, 2012)
The GBC version of Mario Golf is a lovely, fun little game to have on the go. It's all down to personal preference whether this is a step forward or a step back from NES Open Tournament Golf, but there's little to complain about here. The RPG elements are wisely optional, which means that they're here for anyone who might enjoy them, and can be totally absent from the experience for those who find it a distraction. Mario Golf provides a solid golfing experience with a stellar presentation, and should be worth a download for fans who don't already have an alternative on their 3DS.
