Mars Saga

Mines of Titan is a great Infocom game, an example of how a company's tried and true text adventures have expanded to include well-conceived graphic and animation elements. With a smooth user interface, this adventure will require many hours of a gamer's time to complete.

Was ist denn das? Hinter dem neuen klangvollen Namen "Mines of Titan" verbirgt sich nichts anderes als die 16-Bit-Version des C 64-Rollenspiels "Mars Saga". Nette Grafik, ein großes Spielfeld, das tolle taktische Kampfsystem, viele Spezialfähigkeiten und eine Menge Gegenstände täuschen nicht über ein äußerst dürftiges Spielprinzip hinweg. Außer ein paar mickrigen Aufträgen und dem auf Dauer ziemlich öden Rumgemetzel ist eigentlich nicht viel los. Zudem ist Mines of Titan nicht gerade besonders komplex. Nach wenigen Tagen dürfte das Programm auch von Rollenspiel-Einsteigern gelöst worden sein. Wer unbedingt ein Science-fiction-Rollenspiel für seine Sammlung sucht, kann es sich ja mal anschauen.

In conclusion, I am kind of disappointed in the game – the sinister, futuristic setting could have made up a great game, but the developers wasted all their work because of some major downgrades like the battle system and lack of sound. But since I actually enjoyed the game in the start, I’ll give it 3 points.

Kurzum: Mit diesem Programm hat ELECTRONIC ARTS mal wieder etwas ganz Exzellentes fabriziert oder mit ganz anderen Worten, MARS SAGA ist genau die richtige Abwechslung nach einem nervenaufraibenden Bard's Tale-Spielchen.
