Unknown Source:
The first interactive movie, Mean Streets is the story of Tex Murphy, a private investigator working the streets of San Francisco in the year 2033. Mean Streets is set in the traditional style of the great detective movies such as The Maltese Falcon and The Big Sleep. Tex Murphy has been hired by the beautiful daughter of a university professor. She wants Tex to investigate her father's death. The police have termed it suicide, but the daughter suspects that her father was murdered.

As Tex begins his investigation, he uncovers the deaths of several prominent members of the scientific community. Are these deaths merely coincidental, or is there some more sinister going on? Who would have the motive to commit these crimes? Is it Saint Gideon, the mysterious former head of British intelligence? Could Frank Schimming, the president of the largest surveillance firm in the world be hiding something? Or what about Sylvia, the professor's sultry and curvaceous daughter. Was she a little over-anxious to cash in on the million-dollar life insurance policy? And there's jilted lover, Dolores Lightbody, who could be behind it all. You also want to find out why Big Jim Slade, the Detroit hit man, is in town.

You will interact with more than 27 digitized characters to distinguish the truth from the lies. You'll find yourself in constant danger as you deal with life's sleazier elements. You'll crack high-tech security systems and rummage through offices, warehouses, and factories as you search for vital clues. You'll risk your life in action-packed shootouts.

You'll discover the Nexus computer network. Is it part of a diabolical plan to overthrow the government and establish a new world order - or just an exciting new video game system?
