The bottom line is European Assault is living proof that the Medal of Honor series still commands considerable respect in a genre of military games that is slowly but surely becoming heavily populated. Boasting some of the best graphics the series has seen as well a superior soundtrack and an enhanced game play engine make this one a must have for all those hardcore militant gamers out there. Whoever said that the MoH series was dead must have forgotten that while patrons and heroes may come and go tomorrow it is honor that will last forever and ever. 4 + GiN gems is my final verdict.

Medal of Honor: European Assault is the best next-generation Medal of Honor game. It's the best World War II game that I've ever played, period. Better than Call of Duty, better than Return to Castle Wolfenstein, better than Frontline. The developers at Electronic Arts Los Angeles pulled off a game that is infinitely more playable than its predecessors and competitors, all while giving hardcore gamers a serious challenge on the harder difficulty settings. EA dropped an A-Bomb on their competitors with this one. Enlist in the European Assault today, soldier.

Na also, es geht doch!

I can’t really find much fault with the graphics and sound. No game is perfect, and this isn’t either. For example: a solider standing on a bank, shooting at the enemy. When I got closer, I noticed that he was actually floating in mid-air. The levels are nicely done, with quite a lot of attention to detail. The cut-scenes are nicely done. They have gone for the full effect, by using an old cinema style effect. I can only begin to image how the sound would fare on a surround sound set up. It’s like being in a film at times. You have the howl of the wind, with the bang of guns. Snow crunches under your feet, etc... as far as I’m concerned, this is a must have.

Surpassing the last Medal of Honor game, European Assault is a much welcomed addition and a step up for a series that is starting to show its true colors. With its wide open spaces fit for exploration and wonderfully action-packed mission scenarios, this is a first-rate game for fans of first-person shooters set during WWII.

To sum it all up, it's a new MOH game that brings a few new fresh things to the series but the game doesn't hold up well. It's too short and with no online multiplayer, the replay value is not hitting at much. Still, anybody ready for a new and fresh installment to the series will surely enjoy this game while it does last. Fans of the series and newcomers as well will enjoy this game, just beware of broken controllers. Buy or rent? It's a rent, go rent it and have a good weekend beating it.

By now, everyone and their mothers have played a World War II first-person shooter. Surprisingly, there are as many good games in this sub-genre as there are healthy soldiers lined up for physicals. And while it's true that their shaved heads and crew cuts may look similar, each one still offers a little something different. EA's Medal of Honor series, the granddaddy of them all, is no longer the star soldier of it once was. Sad as it may be, EA has done as much to hurt its series as it has to help it. If Medal of Honor: Allied Assault on PC was the pinnacle of the series, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun was its Waterloo.

"Medal of Honor: European Assault" dá um gás à série incorporando novos elementos.

If you're sick of war games on the market, European Assault more than likely won't change your mind and should probably be passed over. However, first-person shooter fans and those who can't get enough Medal of Honor will definitely want to pick it up, as it has enough bold designs and graceful gameplay to keep you fighting the good fight. The lack of online multiplayer is an issue, but not enough to keep you away from the brooding experience it provides. I can't wait to see what's next for this series. Hopefully, I won't have to wait long.

It's tough to say what the future will hold for the Medal of Honor franchise. The WWII first-person shooter genre is becoming more crowded with each passing month, and there's a good chance that we'll be seeing more similarly themed games in the future. With this title, however, EA has shown that they aren't going to give up without a fight, and they've succeeded in breathing new life into the series by opening up the levels and adding some interesting gameplay mechanics. If what we've seen in European Assault is any indication, the reports of the franchise's death are greatly exaggerated.

European Assault's levels take place in Second World War France, North Africa, Russia, and Belgium. Lt. William Holt, the game's star, is an elite US agent. At the start of each level, the plot is related through grainy, period newsreel footage, read by the sandpapery tones of screenwriter John Milius. It follows the exploits of one Lt. William Holt, an elite commando and intelligence officer, as he assaults German bases around Europe.

Medal of Honor: European Assault is an interesting game. It lies somewhere between Frontline and Rising Sun, having moments of unbelievable excitement, and moments where the experience isn't quite right. This isn't the Frontline killer we've been waiting for, or the game that'll put Medal of Honor back on top as the premier war/combat game. It is, however, the closest thing we'll get to a Frontline sequel, and is one of the best excuses to stay indoors during the hot summer months.

Medal of Honor set the stage for World War II first-person combat games, and no series has more entries in the genre. But the MOH has also suffered withering attacks by excellent counterparts like Call of Duty and Brothers in Arms. European Assault returns fire with hits and misses.

For years, the Medal of Honor series was the only game in town when it came to WWII first-person shooters. When the first game landed on the PlayStation in November of 1999, it was lauded as a gritty, immersive experience that brought the brutal realism of war into people's homes for the very first time. Over the years, we saw several sequels, some of which were good (Frontline) and some that weren't (Rising Sun). We also saw the rise of a number of titles that wanted to wrest control of the burgeoning genre from the franchise, with Activision's excellent Call of Duty leading the pack. Some people were convinced that the series was running out of ammo, but after playing Medal of Honor European Assault, it's clear that the franchise still has plenty of bullets left in its clip.

European Assault is a game that doesn’t deviate much from its given formula, even with its increasing intensity in future missions. It also aims to be a game that everyone can play, but it doesn’t always succeed. It’s not going to upend games like Halo 2 or even Star Wars Battlefront, especially in terms o replayability, but as far as first-person-shooters go on the PS2, you could do a whole heck of a lot worse.

XboxXBox Evolved
Medal of Honor: European Assault is a perfect example of why World War II games are so wildly popular... almost. The game pretty much has everything going for it in the fact that just about every aspect of the game made to represent battles in World War II are very successful in doing so. The campaign is a little too short but is usually difficult enough to provide a lot of playtime as you try to go through each level with a new strategy. The one serious problem with this game definitely has to be the fact that there is no Xbox Live support. For a game that has good enough gameplay to definitely warrant an online multiplayer to be added in, this game lacks in fun after you've beaten the campaign.

While Medal of Honor remains one of the best places to go to get that intense feeling of being in the middle of a great war epic, the gameplay itself isn't quite so satisfying. To become an action hero, this might still be the right choice. To truly come to terms with the plight of a soldier losing friends and risking death in wartime, there are other places you should look first.

The game's wide-open levels actually encourage players to explore, giving the series a fresh feel compared to past games. Unfortunately, a very brief campaign and no online multiplayer means the fun doesn't last long.

For console shooter fans, European Assault is definitely a step in the right direction after the forgettable Rising Sun. We liked the more-open level designs, and fans will definitely enjoy exploring the new levels, as well as completing every last secondary objective. But even if you spend the time to do that, the adventure doesn't last very long, and the lack of online multiplayer further limits the game's value. Still, longtime fans of the series will at least want to rent this one, as it delivers some solid WWII shooter action.

Following up on last year's Medal of Honor games, Pacific Assault and Rising Sun, Electronic Arts has chosen to bring the series back to the European theater of war with Medal of Honor: European Assault. Unfortunately, a very brief campaign and no online multiplayer means the fun doesn't last long.

Medal of Honor: European Assault isn't a bad game by anyone's standards, but it could have been truly memorable if it had more levels and a decent online mode. The graphics are also pretty outdated, with regular framerate drops, but the sound more than makes up for this. Try before you buy.

MOH: European Assault is an average game, but its presentation, not its gameplay, is what sets it apart from other WWII shooters. If you’ve not yet played a WWII-themed shooter, this is a good one on which to cut your teeth while getting a well-researched and entertaining history lesson in the process. The thing of it is, the chances are high that you’ve already played your fair share of WWII games, so MOH: European Assault is probably going to be one you’ll be just as happy passing by.

PlayStation 2Daily Game
Before you start in with the “ho hum, here’s another World War II first-person shooter” spiel, Medal of Honor: European Assault has something it wants to tell you: all WWII first-person shooters aren’t created the same. Sure, they share certain elements (historical settings, weapons, Axis and Allied forces), but the presentation and gameplay isn’t necessarily cloned from one game to the next. And MOH: European Assault is just such an anti-clone.

I get the feeling that EA really didn't know where to take this series next, and just fired blindly. To say the very least, European Assault doesn't come close to hitting the target.

Friendly fire isn't even an issue in the single-player campaign, and therein lies the problem. In grasping for accessibility, MoH: EA undermines the series' basic dramatic premise that you're an exceptional soldier, but still just a guy with some guns who's playing a tide-turning role in the events of World War II. If you're in it purely for the fun of soldiering, MoH: EA is a reasonable purchase title (although if you're a clock watcher, be warned that it falls a bit short of epic at around 10 hours). If you need the drama to complete your experience, the bright green medkits might taint the cinematic sweep, but it's perhaps worth a rental if you're a fan of the series or the genre.

Bijvoorbeeld zonder revives of medkits!

Medal of Honor European Assault is halfway to a fine return to form for the Los Angeles team. They've given MOH fans what they want in terms of action and all they need now is a little bit more variety in the game and the series will return to the prestigious status it deserves. For now European Assault is only for the truly hardcore MOH fan or someone who just hasn't got enough of WWII games already.

European Assault is a sporadically excellent defensive shooter that's let down by curious design philosophies and a musical score so rousing it could raise John Wayne's corpse.

Fans of Medal of Honor will no doubt love this latest entry in the series. EA haven't really changed this too much, and there was really little reason for them to do so. With the series selling so well, why tinker with a winning formula. The squad control may appeal to some people, but can pretty much be ignored if you don't want to play squad-leader. Anyone coming to the series late will probably find it hard to take the dated look and rather archaic lack of checkpoints, but if you can get past the numerous problems, there is an enjoyable game to be found.

European Assault is EA's third Medal of Honor game for the current consoles. Frontline was well received back in 2002, particularly on the FPS starved PlayStation 2, and its commercial success prompted EA to work on Rising Sun, which also sold like hotcakes. European Assault has already been at the top of the UK charts for two weeks, but given that the UK public is bombarded with TV advertising all the time, that is no surprise. Whether or not the game is any good doesn't seem to matter.

When Medal of Honor premiered, there was something inherently different about its approach to the first-person-shooter. There'd been war games before it, but nothing quite as compelling. Coming from Steven Spielberg's own Dreamworks videogame studio, it dumped players into the chaotic thick of war -- even if the game was limited by PlayStation's then-aging hardware. Since the first game, World War II shooters have become commonplace, and ironically, it's the once groundbreaking Medal of Honor series that's struggling to keep pace with competitors. Unfortunately for fans, European Assault does little to bring the series up to speed.

Everything I’ve said goes for every version of European Assault. The graphics, controls, load times and multiplayer options are all the same, which means none of them are online. There's really no excuse anymore for releasing a first-person shooter on the Xbox or PS2 with no online features, but that's exactly the case here. Instead, up to four players can compete in any of several multiplayer games on one system. This wouldn’t be so bad if the game featured bots like Conker: Live and Reloaded, but it doesn’t. If you think Capture the Flag is boring, try it with only two players...or even four.
