Edmund is the prince of a kingdom attacked by a skeleton army under the control of the malicious sorcerer, Lord Morgrimm. Edmund is transformed into a skeleton, and, now known as Deadmund, he seeks to recapture his castle from Morgrimm before the evil magician finds away to harness the power of a great magical artifact and turn the entire kingdom into mindless skeleton warriors.

The character movement in the game is on-rails, leaving the player free to use both hands with the motion controllers in order to engage in combat using a bow and arrow, sword, shield, throwing stars, dynamite, and special powers activated with a magical amulet.
